What Is the Plan? Why Is It Important? EEO practices are important for both employees and employers. On an individual basis, EEO accomplishes many things.
First, EEO helps establish a baseline for acceptable behavior, which is important considering the vast array of lifestyles, values, and attitudes individuals have. The Equal Employment Opportunity department investigates complaints by faculty, staff, applicants and students who believe themselves to be harmed by sexual harassment or discrimination and harassment related to issues that have protected class status. The office represents the university to government agencies on those same matters.
To file a complaint with the university, please complete and mail,or personally deliver this form to the director of Employee Relations and AA officer, or you may call to make arrangements to meet. If you are unable for any reason to complete this form and would like to make a verbal complaint, please call to schedule an appointment. Please feel free to contact our office if you have questions regarding the process for filing or investigating complaints of discrimination including sexual harassment.
Individuals who believe they have been discriminated against or harassed may also seek assistance from government agencies such as the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the federal Department of Labor, or the Office of Civil Rights. It is the policy of the State of North Carolina and NCCU to reasonably accommodate qualified individuals with disabilities unless the accommodation would impose an undue hardship.
EEODF provides practical training in understanding roles and responsibilities in managing employees from different backgrounds and cultures, and the corresponding laws, policies, and employment practices and techniques complementing this purpose.
